Kern IT gave a talk at the postgraduate course on Clinical Laboratory Management offered by UBA
Kern IT, a company specialized in technological solutions designed to improve the experience of patients in clinical analysis laboratories and diagnostic centers, was invited to give a lecture to the students of the Postgraduate Course in Clinical Laboratory Management, offered by the School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA).
Diego Kaminker, Director of Innovation and co-founder of Kern IT, and Rodolfo Renner, Commercial Director and co-founder of Kern IT, presented the students of this postgraduate course with a lecture on basic notions and main trends in computer systems for clinical analysis laboratories.
Kern executives offered the students their perspective on where they see laboratory software going. Among the current market trends, they highlighted the following: increased digitization, increased sample volume and reduced number of plants, consolidation of companies, outsourcing of processes, increased focus on the patient, and proliferation of niche studies.
Diego and Rodolfo pointed out in their talk that there is currently a predominant trend to eliminate the hardware part of the client, i.e. the physical datacenter. “Undoubtedly, we are all going to the cloud. The main thing is how each company gets on board and prepares itself to take the step to the next level,” they indicated.
Finally, they listed the various competitive advantages that the cloud offers today for clinical laboratories, among which are: cybersecurity, scalability, availability of IT services 24×7, 365 days a year and accessible from any location, cost reduction by avoiding investments in assets such as hardware and software licenses, acceleration for incorporating new applications and services (time to market), and remote online support.
